DamtheSpam is a
simple Windows based computer program that allows you
to control the email that reaches your Outlook inbox.

happens.

Sorry, not yet.
Will DamTheSpam work with Outlook 98?
Negative.
Why DamtheSpam?
Most efforts
to slow the current flurry of useless unsolicited information being transmitted
via email has not been very effective. Some of these efforts have been destructive by targeting victims of Spam. We have found
this annoying enough to do something about it. DamtheSpam is a
simple effective answer to the problem.
What is SPAM?
SPAM is unsolicited e-mail. It is
usually sent to you without you requesting it. SPAM has turned a
excellent technology (email) into an annoyance. In our view, SPAM is
capitalism running amuck.
How does DamtheSpam work?
By placing email from recipients who are not in your contact list
into a separate folder. If desired, the mail in this folder can be
reviewed once a week or once a day to see if there is anything of
interest. DamntheSpam can be set to automatically delete items in this
folder on a cyclical basis.
Can I instruct DamtheSpam to accept all mail from a company or
Internet domain?
Yes, add the company's Internet domain name prefixed with
an asterisk to your address book. For example, if you want to
accept email from anyone at Microsoft, add the address "*.Microsoft.com"
to your address book.
How can I tailor DamntheSpam?
Start Outlook and select Tool -> Options ->
DamtheSpam.
Which versions of Outlook are compatible with DamTheSpam?
Outlook 2000, 2002 and XP
Which computer operating systems are compatible with DamTheSpam?
Windows 98, ME, 2000, NT 4 and XP.
What About Mac's?
Sorry, maybe next version.
Can I use DamtheSpam with any other Email Clients?
Presently just Outlook 2000 and above.
We will program other email clients if DamtheSpam generates enough revenue to pay for the development.
How much does DamTheSpam cost?
$20 free trade deal.
Will DamTheSpam delete any email before I have a chance to review it?
No. You can set an option to automatically delete rejected
mail on a cyclical basis, but by default the unsolicited mail is not deleted.
What about my Outlook rules?
Outlook rules are processed before DamtheSpam. Your
rules will continue to work just as they did before. Email moved by rules
is not processed by DamtheSpam.
Will DamTheSpam help prevent email viruses?
Yes, but it is not a substitute for a good anti
virus program. DamtheSpam helps alleviate viruses reducing the likelihood
of you inadvertently opening an email with a virus.
Why do some of the email notifications get returned or
rejected?
If you set DamtheSpam to notify senders of
rejected mail, some of these notification emails will be returned as
undeliverable. Spammers often use false return email addresses and
sometimes totally
invalid email addresses. These messages will be returned to you by the receiving
email server and marked 'undeliverable'. If your server can't send a
notification, it will be returned to your inbox with a
message like 'invalid or malformed email address'
If this gets annoying turn notification off -> start Outlook, then
click Tools -> options -> DamtheSpam and uncheck 'notify senders of junk
email'. You could also setup a rule under Outlook organize to delete
returned options.
How can I get DamtheSpam to accept mail from someone that is being
rejected?
Add the sender to your contact list, then click Tools ->
options -> DamtheSpam -> refresh contacts.
By default DamtheSpam builds a list of valid addresses once per Outlook
session. If you prefer, you can set an option to build this list
of valid addresses each time new mail is received. To do this,
click Tools -> options ->DamtheSpam -> and check 'when ever new mail
arrives' under the 'Scan Contact List' option.
Can DamtheSpam let senders know that they need to be in my address book.
Yes, if you turn on notification, DamTheSpam
will send a standard email to people whose email
does not reach your inbox. This email asks the sender to get in touch with you
to be added to your contact list. This notification is enabled from
the DamtheSpam options tab which can be accessed from Outlook under Tools and
options..
I get a lot of Spam. Won't the reject folder fill
up quickly?
Yes. But, DamtheSpam can be
set to delete mail from the reject folder after a specified interval such as one day, one week, one month, etc. Set this under the Outlook options settings.
Does DamTheSpam work when the Outlook
e-mail security patch has been applied?
Yes
What if I don't like it?
Uninstall it. Select Start -> control
panel -> add remove programs - > DamntheSpam.
Why doesn't DamTheSpam use a "blacklist" of known
Spammers
to screen mail?
Much time and effort has been wasted by
others trying to create blacklists. Spammers can make
mail appear to come from a fictitious email addresses, which they change
with every mailing. Blacklists are not an ineffective barrier to Spam.
